India's Test Squad for Home Series

The Indian Test squad for the 1st 2 of the 3 test series with Sri-Lanka was announced a few days back. The squad: MS Dhoni (capt/wk), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, M Vijay, S Badrinath, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Sreesanth, Pragyan Ojha, Amit Mishra.
Pragyan Ojha and Sreesanth have made their way into the team. There are no notabale absentees.

  1. This squad is not the best that the selectors have chosen. There are only three seamers out of which two are making a comeback and one completely out of form. There are adequate batsmen and the selection of Vijay is questionable and Nehra should have been there instead. Hopefully India can pull of this series win against Sri Lanka after the dissapoinment against Australia.

  2. I completely agree with you, on the selection of the 3 seamers. But although Ishant Sharma may look out of sorts in the Limited Overs version, he is actually the spearhead of our attack as Zaheer is coming back from an injury. As for the selection of M Vijay, u always need to have a spare opener in Tests. This is because in test match cricket, opening is a specialist positon. But all said and done, I hope that the pitches are good and provide us with results rather than bore high scoring draws.
